Another sail day where the emphasis was again on volunteers and getting you all up to speed with rigging and skippering the dinghies as well as rescue boat duty.
Some competency testing was planned but didn’t eventuate. Next time maybe.
We also took out some of our regular sailors. Sara, Michelle and Jamie are all keen to get on the water and we’ll be seeing them on a regular basis. Sheryl is going to investigate taking Sara on one of the tall ships.
Mike and Ken expressed interest in being regular rubber ducky drivers and also volunteered to help Bernie with maintenance on the dinghies. This hopefully will happen in the KBSC shed behind the CCYC.
Mary is keen to help Kerry with refreshments on a regular basis. As we grow and start getting bus loads of sailors and their carers as well as volunteers this will become a full time job. I heard talk of soft drinks and muffins as well as tea and coffee. Sounds good.
Steve P was busy with his video and still cameras. Councilor Bill Ludwig has given us permission to use songs off his latest CD as backing tracks on any videos. Thanks Bill.
Paul C has drawn up preliminary sketches for our planned shared shed with the outriggers. I’ll try and circulate something soon so everyone can add their input. Bill has promised to chase council on their progress.
Jacquie Mackay from ABC local radio will attend our next sail day which should give us valuable community exposure. Thanks to Teresa for organising this.
Next Sail Day
Tuesday 1st June. The 7 girls from Glenmore High who couldn’t make it this time at the last moment, are planning to attend for the first time. Along with our regular sailors we should have about 10 customers.
